Here are some common Frequently Asked Questions
(Please contact us with ANY questions (407) 251-1151. Find more information about what to do Before, During & After your tanning experience under our "DO IT" Tab)

Q: How many days will a sunless tan last?
A:
There are several factors which contribute to the longevity of your sunless tan. It depends on the type of your skin type & surface condition, the sunless tanning product, the skin's natural exfoliation process, and the skincare regimen followed before and after the application.

Do-It-Yourself Products (lotions, sprays, etc.)
2 to 4 days

Automatic Spray Booths
3 to 6 days

Hand Applied Professional Airbrush Spray Tans
5 to 10 days*

The life span of a sunless tan also depends on your skin's natural exfoliation. The quicker your skin exfoliates, the quicker the sunless tan will fade. The tan created by the DHA will begin to fade after 4 to 5 days as the skin naturally begins to exfoliate. That's why following a good skin care regimen before and after sunless tanning is essential and will help prolong your sunless tan. Sunless tan-extending products with minimal self-tanning properties, help hydrate the skin and maintain an even, natural-looking color longer. In addition, most of our clients also use our SELF-TANNING products to keep that natural tan glow in between your tanning sessions.

We want to exceed your expectations to make sure you are extremely satisfied, keep using us in the future and tell your friends about your great experience and results at An Everlasting Tan. Any sunless tanning company that advertises your tan with them will last longer than 10 days (unless using a self-tanner product) is unrealistic, especially in our unique Florida weather. We will provide you with all the information and instructions you will need to help ensure your best EVERLASTING TAN possible!

Q: Will a sunless tan smell funny?
A: Our exclusive sunless tanning solutions typically do not have an odor. What causes that spray tan smell is the reaction of the DHA with each person's skin. Because everyone has different skin and body pheromones a spray tan will have dfferent affects on each person. Some people don't notice an odor at all and others experience a slight tan smell, similar to being in a tanning bed. An Everlasting Tan offers you tanning additives that will add a pleasant aroma to your tannng experience. Ask your airbrush artist to include your choice of any of our SCENTsational drops available in Green Tea, Coconut, Pineapple or Tangerine for only $5 per tan. You may prefer our Neutralizer spray, when applied before your tan, will help reduce any DHA reaction odor on your skin. Also only $5 per tan.

Q: What should I wear when I get my spray tan?
A: Women can wear what ever they're comfortable in be it a bra & panties, thong, bikini or nothing. Men must wear some sort of bottoms either underwear or bathing suit. It is recommended that you wear loose, dark clothing after your tan to prevent any bronzer rubbing off or tight fitting garments that cause friction and can rub the tan off. Flip flops or sandals are preferred. We will provide you a hair cap to cover your hair and barrier cream for your hands and feet to prevent color from reaching those areas.

Q: How long should I wait to shower after I get a sunless tan?
A: It is best to wait at least 8 hours before you bathe or shower to give the DHA time to fully react with your skin's proteins. We recommend waiting 12 hours before using soap. If you can't wait that long to showe, try An Everlasting Tan's RAPID TAN, which will develop quicker and allow you to shower in just hours. Try to refrain from physical exertion that could result in you sweating. The longer you wait to shower, the more time the DHA has to absorb in your skin, producing darker, longer lasting results.

Q: Will the spray tan solution come off on my clothes?
A:
If you are using a spray solution with a cosmetic bronzer, some of the bronze color may rub off on clothing or bed sheets. This is most likely to happen when you get dressed immediately after tanning. The bronzer is water-soluble. Therefore, in most cases, the color will come out of clothing in the wash. The bronzer will wash off during your first shower, however your tan will not get washed away.

Q: Is it safe to get a sunless tan during pregnancy?
A: The concern some doctors have is over whether the active ingredient, DHA, is able to enter the blood stream; indications are that it cannot. DHA only absorbs into the outermost of the skin. Sunless spray tanning solution is a non-toxic, food grade product that is not known to have any detrimental effects to an expectant mother. Therefore, it is safe to use during pregnacy. However, it is recommended to consult with your physician first, particularly during the first trimester.

Q: Will a spray tan protect me from getting a sunburn?
A: You can still tan in the sun or a tanning bed after receiving a spray tan, just be sure to use the proper UV protection as sunless tanning does not offer protection to your skin.

Q: What Does Natural, Organic & Eco-certified mean?
A: Some tanning companies promote "organic" tanning products with "natural" ingredients. Knowing these definitions is important so that you know what you're putting on your skin and what you are paying for. By industry definition, "Natural" beauty products should feature at least 90% of naturally-derived ingredients and be free from all synthetics. An "organic" product should it be formulated using all natural ingredients, be free from parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, genetic modification and petroleum derivatives and contain between 70-95% of organic ingredients. In order for a product to receive an "Eco-Certified" accreditation, it must meet strict guidelines from a national or international governing body. It must contain at least 95% organic content and be free from parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, genetic modification and petroleum derivatives.
